MOC- Men Of Clay
Bio
I'm Sonny the LION
I'm a songwriter/composer who started building guitars before really playing them. I heard my main influence, Eddie Van Halen, and I was driven to learn everything about his playing style.

I could not afford a guitar, so I joined a building trades class in high school. I built my first guitar from scratch, using planks of oak wood. BTW I still have that guitar.

My four main influences were Van Halen, AC/DC, Santana, and Boston. That was 27 years ago. Rock music was my reason to live and it kept me out of trouble because I practiced 12 hours a day. I didn’t have a stereo, so I would listen to them on my dad’s 8-track player in his car, which I found very therapeutic.

I've been playing since I was 16 in local bands playing covers and originals. I had the pleasure of playing for large festivals such as the Sombrero Fest in Brownsville, Texas and several venues in South Padre Island. My music credits include music for a PBS video titled, "A Bend in a Mexican River," some pieces for three indie films titled, "El Chisme and The Eternal Decision" with Indie Godmother in San Antonio, and "Holy Toast" with California filmmaker Ken Morales. I also compose music for all of my wife's book promos and websites. I'm also currently working on music for my wife's audiobook scheduled to be released soon: www.heartofthejaguar.com.

I’m thankful that GOD has given me the opportunity to do what I love and credit everything I have to him and grateful for his power and presence. I want to thank my parents, and my brother and two sisters for not really hurting me when I drove them nuts when I practiced.

I would also like to thank my wife Jackie and my little girl for keeping me on my toes—and for their patience—especially when I’ve turned the house into a mine bomb of guitar pedals, cords, and guitars. And I can’t forget my second mom, Espi and Frances for supporting me in everything I ‘ve set out to do.
I'm John the BEAR
I started playing the bass when I was old enough to practice on my brother's Washburn bass in the year of 1987. This was my first bass, an old Washburn hand-me-down. I now play an Ibanez 4 stringer that I have had for about 15 years. I later acquired a 5 string Spector neck-thru bass from my AWESOME wife one Christmas night.

I have played for several original and cover bands over the last 20 years, along with different churches and conferences. I've recorded my own solo CD (see my personal myspace) and am also a songwriter. In 1996, I made it to the final round of Tops & Blues where I turned down touring the world for the sake of marrying the other love of my life. I've been married 12 years to my beautiful wife Melva, and we have two little ones-- a boy and a girl.

My favorite bands and musical influences over last 30 years are U2, The Police, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, George Clinton, Primus, Dwight Yoakam, Big & Rich, Grammatrain, Plankeye, Beastie Boys, Dave Weckl, Chick Corea & Jamiroquai, and of course, MEN OF CLAY.

Favorite Bass Players and influences are Victor Wooten, Abraham Laboriel, Stanley Clarke, Louis Johnson, Les Claypool, Flea, Marcus Miller, Ray Riendeau and a phenominal bass player I met at a Denver music store who's name, I believe is, Pat Casey.

MORE TO COME LATER STAY TUNED
I'm Eric the RABBIT
I'm thirty-five years old, and I've been playing drums for the last fifteen years. Some of my mentors and instructors who inspired me to play were Jeff Ryder and Don Pac. I've played in California with some local artists during my stint in college, but MEN OF CLAY is where I am meant to be. I look forward to every gig and every practice and plan to get better and better as time progresses.

More to come...
